“New Year’s Resolutions:
1. Lloyd Layton will know I exist. He once said three whole words to me, so this is obviously progress. If I don’t get a proper conversation out of him soon, then I’ll take my top off and streak through the cafeteria, because nobody could fail to notice these boobs.
2. I will not get expelled for streaking through the cafeteria.”
Those are the words that begin her mission.
Chessie is fourteen, not pretty enough, and very much in love. Lloyd Layton is hot, popular, and unaware of Chessie’s existence.
Her goal is clear: to get Lloyd to love her as much as she loves him, and she has exactly one year to do it.
As Chessie’s obsession with Lloyd reaches boiling point and she starts to spin a web of lies that spiral out of control, Lloyd turns out to be not quite the prince she thought he was. Can Chessie avoid the gathering storm before things go too far?

First line: “There’s a common misconception that everyone wants big boobs.” I think that’s a good way to attract people’s attentions to read this book. I find it funny that Chessie has this fixation on her boobs throughout the whole story, but I guess it’s something one must feel for having them at the young age of 14.

Chessie is a very silly entertaining character that made me laugh out loud countless of times. She is badly obessed with Lloyd Layton – her hot, popular, and really tall classmate. The story follows her ridiculous attempts to catch Lloyd’s attention, and I think it is a good reflection of crushes we get at a young age. Chessie just really takes it to the extreme. I like that there was also a side romance in the story, which I was more supportive for than Chessie’s infatuation.

I must confess. I do not like a certain plot twist, but I think it’s quite realistic so I don’t really blame anyone. I also felt sorry for Chessie as she goes overboard with the things that she does.

OVERALL, Not Pretty Enough is an entertaining and laugh-out-loud story of a girl madly in love with the idea of a certain boy. I would recommend this to anyone who loves laughing.

3.5-star

She hates spiders and cheese & onion crisps. She has been writing for years but has never before plucked up the courage to tell people. Afterlife Academy is her third novel and she hopes you enjoy it. There are plenty more on the way!

  1. Thank you so much for such a lovely review, and thank you for being part of the tour today! The plot twist was something I questioned *so* much, so I’m glad to have some honest feedback on it! 🙂
