Jenny Kramer knows she isn’t normal. After all, not everybody can see the past lives of people around them. When she befriends Ben Daulton, resident new boy, the pair stumbles on an old music box with instructions for “mesmerization” and discover they may have more in common than they thought.
Like a past life.
Using the instructions in the music box, Ben and Jenny share a dream that transports them to Romanov Russia and leads them to believe they have been there together before. But they weren’t alone. Nikolai, the mysterious young man Jenny has been seeing in her own dreams was there, too. When Nikolai appears next door, Jenny is forced to acknowledge that he has traveled through time and space to find her. Doing so means he has defied the laws of time, and the Order, an ominous organization tasked with keeping people in the correct time, is determined to send him back. While Ben, Jenny and Nikolai race against the clock — and the Order — the trio discovers a link that joins them in life — and beyond death.

Time travel, soul mates, mystics, reincarnation, time wardens, Seers – there’s a lot going on in this novel, but they were all tied up together well with a beautiful cover as the final touch. All kinds of mysteries were presented in this book and I will admit to being impatient with the pace of the story. However, things got more interesting as each chapter progressed and I got to find out more about what was going on.

Jenny Kramer is not normal. Touching other people gives her the ability to see into another person’s past, and she also constantly dreams of a man with ebony hair and green eyes – Nikolai. She soon finds out about his role in her past life, and a lot about her present life. When the Order, the group of time wardens, threatens to banish Nikolai’s soul, Jenny must figure out who to trust and what to do.

Endless uses a lot of ideas that have been used in the past. I guess what makes it different is how everything was put together. It profoundly describes the different scenery and sensations that allows a reader to experience the all the different scenes, even the ones in the dream state.

I think what I found most interesting was the historical aspect of the story. My knowledge on Russian history goes as far as the Anastasia cartoon movie, which is probably not that accurate. I guess one of the reasons I liked it was because it added something to a familiar story. More details were given on the Romanov family. It’s not a lot, but it was definitely interesting.

OVERALL, Endless started out slow for me, but it got better along the way, and I found myself wanting to know what was actually happening. I like the historical aspect of the story and the connections between the different characters and different time periods. Endless is about a love that transcends time.

P.S. Is this a series? Does anyone know?

  1. Great review! I’m planning on reading Endless in December, so I’m really enjoying seeing what others think of it. I’m also kinda waiting for someone with lots of random knowledge about the Romanovs to post a review because I am one of those people. XD

From what others have said about the ending, I think it is a series, but I haven’t heard anything definite.

    • Also, I haven’t seen this answered anywhere so I’m wondering if you can answer it: Does Endless feature all five of the Romanov children – Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia and Alexei – by any chance? I’ve only seen mentions of Anastasia and Maria in reviews….

      • the other sisters were mentioned and Alexei, but it was mostly focused on Maria. Anastasia is there in a few scenes too. But the others didn’t really have speaking lines or whatever.
