To her millions of fans, ballroom champion Selena Marcil seems to have the perfect life: a great dance partner, a hit reality show, and celebrity perks. But underneath the glamorous ball gowns, Selena longs to find someone to share her life with when the stage lights dim.
Selena’s childhood sweetheart, Bret Lord, hung up his dance shoes after winning two national titles with her as a teenager, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He never saw his former fiancée again, except on television and on the cover of men’s magazines. Ten years and three deployments later, Bret gets an offer to audition for Selena’s dance show. When the Marine Corps gives him temporary leave to appear on the series, Bret can’t refuse the quick cash that will enable him to provide financially for the widow of his buddy, even if it does mean coming face to face with his past.
When Bret shows up at her national championship, Selena is shocked. For years she searched for him to no avail. After spending time with Bret, Selena realizes despite their past romance, they have no future. He has no desire to live under a spotlight and she has no desire to leave it. Can Selena and Bret recognize when Love Waltzes In?

Love Waltzes In shows the vibrant side of competitive dancing – the colorful and flashy costumes, the intricate makeup, the wonderful feeling of dancing. But it also shows the downsides – the rivalries, the fake relationships, the unwanted media attention. Selena Marcil gets lost in the whirlwind of all the competitions and dancing shows that has been her career and her life for years. But she has never forgotten her ex-fiance, Bret Lord, and the life she could have led as a wife and a mother. When Bret is hired to dance in Dancing Under the Stars, where Selena was also one of the dancers, their re-encounter will reignite their feelings for each other, but also bring up dark secrets and past hurts. And both Bret and Selena want different lifestyles. So they must both work together to be able to be together in the end.

Selena broke Bret’s heart when they were young, keeping a secret that hurt her and could hurt Bret if ever he found out. After breaking up her relationship with Bret, Selena only focused in her dancing career, which picked up and made her really famous. And she had her heart set out on simply winning competitions in dancing. She has worked many years in this business, but she finds that she wants something more. But she didn’t really want to leave the world of dancing either. She’s quite torn by what she wants and what she should do with her life.

I personally think it was hard to imagine the bulky and masculine Bret Lord to move so fluidly. But apparently he’s a really good dancer. He’s also a really great and nice guy. He joined the dancing competition simply to win money for the family of his friend that was lost in service. He was also sweet towards Selena.

There were a lot of foreign nationalities in this book, and I found it interesting how Alana Albertson was able to show that not only in their descriptions but also in their speech patterns. She was also able to vividly display the world of competitive dancing. I also like how she used different kinds of dances to start every chapter where she would name a dance and write a few lines illustrating the movements.

**************************************************

OVERALL, Love Waltzes In is a story that allows a reader to get lost in the world of competitive dancing – the glamour, the drama, the determination, the perspiration, etc. It is also a tale of love and forgiveness and finding one’s self and determining the choices in life that one might take. The attraction between Bret and Selena is unmistakable and the conflicts that stand in their way will cause some drama. But along with the other characters, they will all also provide laughter, love, wonderful thoughts, and exhilaration in the lives they all lead.
