Being a zombie counselor was not Rose Lee’s dream job. However, there was a growing need for people who were willing to work with clients that smelled bad, were falling apart, and had a propensity for bad behavior. She decided to put her college degree to work, and try to help out her fellow man, or rather fellow zombies.
When Rose meets a soon-to-be zombie waitress at the Crispy Biscuit, things go from bad to worse. She tangles with zombie landlords, zombie hunters, undercover zombies and mercenaries, just to name a few.
Rose tackles all of her problems straight on, whether she is taking out a thug in the supermarket parking lot or saving a cop’s life at the playground. She battles the dark underbelly of post-apocalypse Hornellsville, and proves that she is more than just a pretty girl named after a famous stripper.

NEW Cover Reveal: Deer in Headlights by Staci Hart

Release Date: Feb. 4th, 2013

Aphrodite never loses, not when it comes to love.

Immortality
has its perks and its downsides. Boredom, for one, is unavoidable, but
instead of playing parcheesi, the gods devised a game that uses humans
as pawns. Remember Shakespeare? That was Apollo. Bonnie and Clyde?
Aphrodite versus Ares.

Aphrodite is on deck once again, and she’ll defend her domain of love as
she works to get the humans together before the clock runs out, while
her opponent tries to keep them apart.

Game one is against
Apollo, and Aphrodite knows she has her work cut out for her when he
chooses Dean, a brooding rock star man-whore who believes women can’t be
trusted. Aphrodite decides on Lex, a perfect match for Dean, even
though her heart is guarded, locked away tight. She’d never let anyone
in. Not ever. Of course, she hasn’t met Dean.

But there’s
always more at stake than just the game when you’ve lived for thousands
of years. The Olympians are the original dysfunctional family, surviving
eons of love and lust, betrayal and lies, as friends and enemies,
through feuds and wars. From Ares, the douchebag, who’s forever trying
to start a fight and get Aphrodite into bed, to Persephone, her best
friend, who she can always count on for a healthy helping of bacon on a
bad day, the gods will take you on a lighthearted trip as they mess with
humans, laugh and fight, lose love and gain power.

about the author:
Staci has been a lot of things
up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a
seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget
that. She’s also been a mom; she has three little girls who are sure to
grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife; even though
she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super,
duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey. Her
favorite word starts with f, ends with k, and there a uc in there. Just
saying. From roots in Houston, to a seven year stint in Southern
California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between
and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still
magical. When she’s not writing, she’s sleeping, cleaning, or designing
graphics. But let’s be honest, she’s mostly writing.

I think that Jamie Baywood’s book fits well with the theme of the month so I’m glad to have her today at the blog. Her book was based on her own personal journey, and we’ll be able to know more about it in this little interview.

It’s 1984, and Tanaka Katsu is paving his way in the Yakuza. His marriage to Yuki was a business deal, and one that he has paid for with his happiness.
Aphrodite can’t stand that he’s so miserable, and Hera, the goddess of marriage and monogamy, has a strong hold on Yuki, who will do whatever it takes to get what she believes is hers. Aphrodite won’t sit by and watch Katsu’s life slip away with no chance at love, so when he takes a trip to Vegas, she’ll introduce him to his match.
Kim never thought she’d be in the situation like the one that’s coming her way, but what the heart wants is a powerful thing, and one that’s impossible to walk away from.

My own personal adventure

This is one of those rare occurrences where I have such an awesome day that I had a day hangover rather than a book hangover. I write this mostly for me so I’m not sure everyone would care much about it, especially since I’m a bad story teller. Maybe people would like it. Maybe they won’t. This is a non-fiction short story of a day in my life. It contains mature words such as curse words or innuendos. This is non-verbatim of course because my memory’s not that good. And I think it benefits from a little creativity. The age group is probably New Adult considering we’re a bunch of university undergraduates or graduates. What I like about the whole story is that I think it fits quite well with the theme of my month.

P.S. If you want to give editing/proofreading advice, feel free to do so. 😄

You can read the full story below, but the formatting got a little weird. You can also read it on Google Docs.

Weekly Wrapup: January 19-24

I think I’m picking up my pace on reading again. So yay. I finally got my copy of Unhinged by A.G. Howard, read it, and love love LOVED it. I couldn’t put it down and I had a really bad book hangover. And now I have a lot of awesome books I’m looking forward to reading, especially during the Winter Wishes Read-a-thon I’m participating in this weekend. Work load was really light this week too so that made me happy. Also, I’m getting into anime dating sims. Don’t judge me! I downloaded 3 apps onto my phone. They’re mostly visual novels though so it’s mostly reading rather than making decisions. Decision time only comes around after 5 scenes or so.
