Carrie works at a diner in South Philadelphia, dispensing advice to humans and angels wise enough to seek her counsel. But there are some problems that even the best advice can’t solve.
Her latest supplicant, Sebastian, is unique among those who have sought her aid. He sold his soul to a demon in exchange for his sister’s life, but his heart remains pure.
Carrie has lived for millennia with the knowledge that her immortality is due to the suffering of others, and she cannot bear to see another good man damned when it is within her power to prevent it.
In order to renegotiate his contract, Carrie must travel into the depths of hell and parley with the demons that control its pathways. As the cost of her journey rises, Carrie must determine how much she is willing to sacrifice to save one good soul.

But her new life comes with plenty of its own dramatic—and dangerous—complications . . . and Isadora quickly learns there’s no such thing as a clean break from family.

DNF Mini Book Reviews: Unite, The Park Bench Test, Heartbeat

DNF: Did-not-finish

I’m not really sure how to do a DNF review because this is the first time I’ve done this, but I will mostly talk about why I couldn’t finish these books. I’m sure others loved them, but they just couldn’t work for me. I included the percentage of what I read based on what my Kindle App told me so the percentages include covers, acknowledgments, etc.

Unite the park bench test heartbeat

Look at those gorgeous covers. It’s such a waste that the content didn’t deliver. Just thinking about them and writing the reviews put me in a sour mood, but I had to trudge through because they were all review copies and I needed to produce an output.

In the dystopian future, two men discover attraction isn’t just dangerous, it’s deadly.
It is the year 2070. Generations ago, the world was annihilated by catastrophic environmental events. The survivors were driven to live in big city centers ruled by the Company. To rebuild the world’s population, the oppressive Company had one rule: all homosexuals must be exterminated.

Commander Caspar Cannon has a stellar military reputation—and a life-threatening secret. When a revolution rips through the territories, Cannon is ordered to escort Company executive Nathaniel Rice to a secure location. For months, the commander has harbored illicit desire for Rice, knowing he cannot act on his attraction. Privileged, polished, and groomed to one day take over the Company, Rice is drawn to the rugged, military man. Yet Rice has his own mysterious agenda, and he knows their love can be as dangerous as the wasteland they must traverse.
Now leaving the besieged city behind, the two men embark on a journey that becomes a minefield of sabotage, betrayal—and forbidden passion. But when danger catches up to them, can Cannon trust the secretive man who holds his heart—and his fate?

How do the Greek gods kill time? Because they’re always bored. It’s an unavoidable downside of being alive for thousands of years. So, they play games. Games with human players. Remember Shakespeare? Yeah, that was Apollo. Bonnie and Clyde? Aphrodite vs Ares.
It’s Aphrodite’s turn once again in the rounds of competitions, and she’ll defend her domain: Love. She hasn’t lost a competition on her turf in over three millennia, and she’s not about to start now. Apollo is her first competitor, and he’s on a mission to win. If he wins, he’ll get a token; a favor that Aphrodite must fulfill. And with that favor, he’ll finally get the one woman he’s never been able to have.
Aphrodite and Apollo will choose their human players, and if Aphrodite can’t get them together before the clock runs out, Apollo will get his way. And she couldn’t have that.
Lex and Dean are perfect for each other. They just don’t know it yet.
Dean is a perpetual bachelor, and a man-whore. A brooding, gorgeous, rock star man-whore. Lex always has a boyfriend, but she’s never let anyone in enough to let herself go. Not really. Not ever. Aphrodite has her work cut out for her, but if she can’t make it work, no one can.
But she has more at stake than just Lex and Dean. Apollo killed her mortal love, and that beef has been dragging on for thousands of years. Ares, the douchebag, is forever trying to start a fight, and get Aphrodite into bed. And Persephone, her best friend, is the one person she can confide in, laugh with, and always count on for a healthy helping of bacon when she’s having a bad day.
Follow the gods as they fight, laugh, cry, lose love, and gain power. Making a mess with humans has never been so fun.

From the author of Do or Di and Getting Revenge on Lauren Wood, comes a new laugh out loud romantic comedy. Sophie Kintock isn’t crazy, she just wants her guy back. And posing as a psychic to give his new girlfriend a face reading designed to break them up isn’t going overboard, is it?
Faking psychic powers turns out to be easy and fun, especially after a few lessons from Nick, the cute (if a bit nerdy) skeptic, who knows all the tricks of the trade. But her readings do a lot more than she could have predicted, and soon Sophie needs to figure out whether the answers lie in the stars-or in herself.

Summer Lovin’: Look at me, I’m Sandra Dee

Featuring: Favorite Fictional Females

This one was difficult for me because I don’t really have favorites. There are those that I tend to really like, but as far as favorites go, it’s always a tough choice. So I took the easy way out and just chose a book on my re-read list (because I love the book and must read it again). I chose Poison by Bridget Zinn, which is a really GOOD book. And for my creative output, I thought of just doing a short bio for her. I cannot really give an actress for her because I’m not that updated with film or television. I don’t know a lot of celebrities. The cover makes a good picture anyway. Although she reminds me of Liv Tyler – a younger version maybe. A lot of details were omitted to avoid spoilers~ Anyway, here goes…
